Vlogging Solo, August Plans

mg 0433

If you’re like me, in the past few months you’ve been discovered and started binge watching sewing vloggers on youtube… for me, like blogging I’ve been watching, crushing and enjoying vlogs so much, I thought…let me give this a try.

If you’re thinking of starting a vlog, go for it! You don’t need a new camera or to invest loads of money on equipment. You just need to be comfortable talking to yourself out load :p

I literally made my video with a iphone propped up with some books and a random box. I edited it on a apple computer with imovie, again my computer is 5 years old and is on it’s last legs…apple products lifespan is not 20 years stong!!

I love blogging and think blogs will never die but videos are such a great medium and another way to connect with other sewing enthusiasts. I hope you watch and enjoy 🙂

Hello, and thank you for the heads up, I did make a toile, one of the rare times I actually do, for the inari and the arms are really tight on me. I’m taking the tie dress top and am gonna trace those armholes and use the sleeves because it’s to same as the Inari, the spoonflower stuff is so great but Im a bit disappointed with the fabric quality but I just the love print so much!! x

Hello!! Thank you! It took so much time to figure out editing I’m so happy people are enjoying it and it’s really helping me sew more! I’ve started on the next video showing you my makes. I’m excited to show you how everything went 🙂

For once I did do a toile, japanese fabric really brings out the cautious sewer in me! and I know exactly what you mean. I find it tight on the bust and very restrictive in the arms. I didn’t know Karen had a blog on it so thanks so much for telling me! 🙂 xx

I love how blog can go into way more detail and I do like to go on, so I must keep on blogging. Thanks for watching my vlog and the dolls head is all sewn up and I can’t wait to share… still need to build up momentum for the UFO it will proabably be the most satisfying make of all! 🙂 xx

great post! I really like the spoonflower fabric, can’t wait to see your make. I’ve made a version of the inure tee dress in a chambray fabric, its a lovely pattern and i plan on making more. The arm are a bit tight but it overly bother me, maybe make a toile before cutting into your beautiful nani iro 🙂

I liked your vlog and am so glad you decided to start doing this as well as your blog. I think the extended tie dress will look great and I am looking forward to seeing the amazing “Doll’s Head” fabric made up.

Love it! Thank you for that advice, Meg. I definitely want to start vlogging soon!

  10. Well done. I enjoyed watching. I had trouble with the Inari tee. The sleeves had surprisingly little arm movement and my first one was a disaster. Karen from Did You Make That did a great blog on solving the issue (I’m not the only one who has had this problem). It would be a real shame to use your fab fabric if you had the same problem.

You’re so natural, lovely to watch AND you’ve inspired me to dig out some bits and bobs that need finishing… well… maybe later… 😉
I think it would be a SUCH shame if you let blogging go, for vlogging… but I think you’ve done a great job of the editing – and I love the pop up graphics, showing titles and pics – more of those! (esp. when it comes to hard to pronounce words, I’m with you on that…who knows HOW they’re said out loud, haha!)

You are such a natural and such a good speaker. I have been thinking about giving this a try, but the editing scares me. Maybe you can show me sometime…

Thank you for giving it a watch! It’s always nerve wracking starting something new. I’m really happy I finally found a project for that fabric! I’m hoping the matching fabric will do the Nani Iro justice.
The accent, omg, I didn’t realise how strong my London ‘th’ sounds like an ‘f’ o.0

Thanks for giving it a watch! I know what you mean about length. So I tried really hard to keep it under 5 minutes. I edited out so much thinking megan stop talking!
Blogging is my favourite too, I read so many end of blogging days articles but you can get much more information out about the writer. 🙂

Love the vlog! It’s fun to see how your fabrics move and drape. I bet the Inari Tee dress will be super cute. And speaking of cute, I love your accent too!

I really enjoyed watching you talk about your makes 🙂 Thanks for being so focused. My problem with many vlogs is that there often is no script and the vlogger skips from one association to another… and the episode takes a very long time. That would be fine for a conversation with a friend, but I find it extremely difficult to follow along in a vlog and not lose interest.

Thank you even more for wanting to stick with blogging! I couldn’t agree more — it’s my preferred medium for getting to know fellow sewists 🙂
